Elise Duryea, MA, CCC-SLP
Founder work 2 progress
Elise is a New York State licensed Speech Language Pathologist and Myofunctional Therapist with a private practice in Sag Harbor. She has a Master’s degree from New York University, has been a certified member of ASHA (American Speech-Hearing Association) for over 25 years. In addition to providing myofunctional therapy, Elise has extensive training in the areas of Childhood Apraxia of Speech and other motor speech disorders, and is a PROMPT certified therapist. She is also SOS trained to work with children who are picky eaters, have oral motor and sensory issues, or poor feeding skills.
Despite all the coursework that she had previously taken, Elise started to notice that some of the children she was working with were not as responsive to therapy techniques she was using, and wanted to explore what was happening structurally with their mouths and airways. She found herself in her first 4-day myofunctional therapy course, and it transformed the way she practices. As they say in the trade, “You don’t know what you don’t know, until you know.” Since that first course, Elise has taken more trainings and immersed herself into the world of myofunctional therapy, tongue and lip ties, and airway health.
Work2progress was born out of a need to help both parents, caregivers, and therapists have a streamlined approach to myofunctional therapy that is both educational and engaging.
